A friend with whom I play "Pickle Ball" were talking last week and " Trains" were brought up, after a little discussion about where we lived, he said his son lived on the same street as I, and if he could bring his Grandson, age 5, to see the trains.  He did bring his Grandson over Sunday afternoon and for over an hour, trains ran in the garage (yep it was hot). The Grandson really liked the Legacy engines chasing the little yellow" MOW" car and the "MOW" car chasing the big trains. For over an hour, he literality ran around the layout watching the trains run, a couple of times he would stop running and climb on the "Top Side Creeper" so he could see all the trains from up high in the middle of the layout.

A great Sunday afternoon.

Pickle Ball-- Short version   Google for more information

Pickle-ball® is traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special Pickle-ball® paddles, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller. The lower net and wiffle ball allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle.

A fine game

The Lone Star Hi-Railers open the Baggage car layout every weekend and the club members take turns running their personal trains. What I really love is looking at the young children's eyes light up when they see the trains running. They get so excited that the parents have to pry them away.

When an older child comes in, I may let him/her run one of my trains on the 3rd loop using the Legacy controller. That one I have programmed the train's Odyssey system for a maximum speed, I do have my hand on another controller ready to push the KILL button, just in case. They always leave wanting to come back.

Members have also donated old train magazines that we give to the younger children.

This will always make my day.
