I recently converted all three of my layout loops to DCS. Two are variable and the other is fixed. When running a Protosound 1 engine on either of the variable tracks, I am not sure how to access the uncoupler and passenger station announcements features of the Protosound 1 engines using the DCS remote on the variable tracks.

I could not find this in Barry's book. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS1 engines are conventional engines.

To operate PS1 engines, refer to The DCS O Gauge Companion, 2nd Edition, Part VII - Operating Conventional Engines, starting on page 126. Also, review page 32 for use of the PS1 soft key.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

I read the sections in Barry's book and still cannot get these functions to work on my Reading Crusader Proto 1 engine. With the engine in neutral, I pressed the MPG key and selected the whistle in neutral feature #25. I pressed the thumb wheel down when this feature was on the screen and the light on the engine blinked 25 times then I pressed the soft key that has done above it and the engine starts to move. I then pressed the direction key to stop the engine and put it in neutral. I then tried the whistle key and still there was no whistle in neutral. What am I doing wrong?

You can only program the locomotive at initial startup, when in reset mode.  Just being in neutral will not work.  Place the locomotive on the track, power up to over 20 volts, and then enter in the program commands.  Once you set the command, you'll need to remove power from the track again and wait a minute before applying power over 10 volts again if you want to program another feature, otherwise you can then carry on and run the locomotive.
