When adding an engine, a challenger with PS3 the engine adds in trolley mode. The engine runs fine but all the soft keys are for the trolley mode. Any suggestions?

Delete and add again with no other engines receiving power. Use a track with a good signal.
Thanks for the tip but it still loaded in trolley mode. Got a call from a friend and he told me to lower the voltage and sure enough that worked.

Man this is a wild one, I have seen some crazy stuff with our remote control train systems, but this one tops the list.

My expectation is that something else changed besides the voltage.
I loaded hi engine and everything went fine. The whole time I had it it never came up trolley mode.
It's an HO engine if that makes a difference. Not sure why it would. I'm interested in what others think.

yes I would love to hear the final outcome as to what the voltage was and what other conditions were present when this issue showed up?

It kept coming up in trolley mode time and time again. The voltage was set at around 18 volts and I lowered To about 15 volts and the next time I tried to add the engine, bingo it added correctly. Nothing else was changed.
Why it added , I just don't know but it worked. I have had dcs from the beginning and have never heard about this procedure but hey if it works.....
Was this with TIU and a DC power source? What transformer type? I wonder if an issue with filtering of power source.
The DCS Commander is only an 16VDC output interesting enough. G

Just curious what the track signal was? I know you have another thread with a low track signal issues on stub tracks. I could understand lowering the voltage if using a MTH brick that can put out voltages of around 21 or 22 volts. Bottom line.. It's added and working. 
Glad you got that straightened out David. What voltage do MTH HO engines operate on usually?
The signal is all tens and a little lower on the stub tracks but everything runs well. The transformer is a MRC tech3 that puts out 18 volts.
my other locomotives were added without any problems.

Mth says 20 volts but I have them operating at a much lower voltage.
