Re: BNSF diesels in green BN painting?

Lately I browsed through manufacturer's catalogs, but did not find any old diesel locomotive type painted in old green/black colors and decorated with BNSF logo (I mean heritage style, not modern swoosh). There are some more detailing differences on that kind of "soon to be scrapped" diesels, such as re-positioned road number from the hood to the cab and the yellow warning marks along the sideframe. I think that they would add some value while simulating the transition period in the megamerger history from the BN era to the BNSF era on an O gauge layout. Maybe, commercially the painting isn't that attractive for Lionel or MTH to put the vintage BNSF diesels on the pre-order list. While searching I have seen photos and drawings of the original prototypes operating in some branchlines and parked in some yards. Do you own that kind of O gauge models in your collection and can you show them to us here?

Temporarily taking off my hat of Information Minister of the Isle of Denial, I've seen very few "patched" BNSF units offered. MTH has done two that I know of -- a GP30 (Blue w/Yellow warbonnet) and an AC6000 (Red/Silver) from the Santa Fe side of the house. The latter was a fantasy unit as Santa Fe never had AC4400's, let alone AC6000's and Burlington Northern only had AC4400's as I can recall. Best bet might be to get decals or dry transfers and appropriately patch some BN units.

I, on the other hand, would love to get hold of a couple of patched GP30's and un-patch them.

Thanks for your response to this topic, but I don't know, did I post it to the right forum group? Maybe this topic could be more interesting for 3-rail scale modelers.

Any way, I made my 1st attempt to convert an old K-Line dummy switcher calf into a weathered (rusty & dusty) green BNSF, ready to be withdrawn from branchline service...

...concerning the road number and the detailing, I played with my wild imagination...

...I experimented little bit with various shades of faded green paint...

More diesels will be converted soon with the same approach in my paintshop...

The Burlington Northern GP30 or GP39 could be patched for BNSF.

I see now, there are many variations, sole diesels have their road numbers on the rear hood, while sole others have tuen under tue cab Windows. Some carry the BN logo, while others have the diagonal stripes on tue front nose. There is a variety of alternatives....

Thanks for the switcher photo, it look that the modeler has several combined choices to patch an old diesel type (SW, GP, SD) from the 1980ies:

a. small logo and road number on hood

b. small logo and road number on cab

c. large logo and road number on hood

d. large logo and road number on cab

Can we see something like that on any Lionel/MTH catalog?
