Cab Light Problem

Is the cab light powered by track power?  Have you tested the bulb?  If it is powered from R2LC I think the code is different.  8 is for smoke  What Reset # does your instructions state?  G

I think the reset code for this engine is 2 not 8.

Thanks for the different #s. I was referring to the chart called: Instructions to restore TMCC functions. I think this engine has odyssey 1.  But I will try them all. 

Found out that # boards should light when power is given to track. (Does not work).  When TMMC remote is used cab light and headlight should work. (Headlight Blinks for 1 sec then off) Could my R2LC not work be an older one and not work lights on this eng? 

Have that engine and it has them spring type connectors for the lights. When putting the shell on after having it off. Those connectors have to be just right or the lights won't work if I remember right.

Well, I have tried all the different # s to reset TMMC.-no joy.  I now have jumped the lamp contact pad to light pad springs and have found lights to work. I guess I could eliminate spring contacts pad, light springs and connect wires together eliminating that way of doing it and just use quick disconnects. Sometimes you do what you have to do.

Yea quick disconnects sounds much better than them springs. Glad that is the only Lionel engine I have had apart that has them springy things.

MTH uses the springs a lot, Lionel has them in various products, but not as often.  I've had minimal issues with them, the usual fix for the MTH ones is just to stretch the springs a bit.

I have had a couple  MTH engines where I put a small spacer under the spring blocks on the mounting post and solved the problem.
