Command Culvert Loader 6-22965

You can check the emitter by using a digital camera, it should appear as a dull purple glow if it's working.  Yes, the emitter is an LED and most certainly has a + and - side, though I don't know exactly what it looks like physically out of the unit as I've never changed the ones in mine.  The receiver also certainly has a + and - side.

I don't know if my problem is the same as this, but my loader, (not command) sometimes works and then sometimes not.  Seems related to the sensor.  There was a thread a while back, but any new suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks

No John.   interesting   on the emitter side, the original is good via camera test.  Installed a new emitter from Lionel and it failed the camera test. No way to test receiver side of the issue.

Hard to say what's going on.  I confess that I haven't really taken mine apart to that level as those parts are working.  I did some mechanical work on both the loader and unloader to get more reliable operation.  I had to tinker with the microswitches and the loader arms to get things to drop correctly.

The saving grace here is that the loader operates just fine, except for the optical functions. I can live with that.

It would probably bug me until I got it working.

I agree John, any suggestions?  All new parts, same results, No new mother boards!

I believe this loader 6-22965 is a Lionel Heritage Item.......and came with this warranty... I have always wondered if it would be honored......

Lionel will honor the lifetime warranty. In fact I have been given an RA #. The catch is if they have parts. If no parts, Lionel will refund the purchase price of the unit. Since my unit works just fine except for the optical functions and I have replaced the optical parts on the unit and I still have the problems, I have elected to keep the unit and fore go the optical functions. I think my problem is the mother bard and there are no parts.
