Hmmm???? Seem to remember a PRR K4 steam locomotive, 1361, at Steamtown that is still in pieces. Track record for rebuilds to operational status isn't that great. IMO. The place is a museum and operated like a museum. IMO

Although the PRR K4s is now longer at Steamtown, it is still "in pieces" at the Railroaders Museum in Altoona.

And 3713 was at Steamtown before the PRR K4 ever got there. The place is a museum for spare parts.
If I recall, the Pennsy K4 was not a Steamtown project, but a poorly managed state of Pennsylvania project. Steamtown offered space and facilicites.
Tim, thank you for the link to the # 3713 restoration raffle page. The Weaver brass model of this engine is killer, and Weaver, alas, is gone, so I just wrote the check for my raffle tickets.

The failed 1361 project was offered work space at Steamtown, it was not managed by Steamtown.
As to the original post, I would love to see four operational engines at Steamtown but I do not think that it's a realistic goal. You need people and money to restore them, and more people and money to operate them. Then you need lots of people to give you money to ride behind them.
