The title says it.  After much personal consternation and a supreme internal tug-of-war, I ordered two of the 1:43 GM Futurliner buses from Diecast Direct.  I found an old Lionel Burlington GP-7 and matching caboose that I'll use to transport these buses when they arrive.  I intend to fabricate a couple of dedicated flat cars to carry the buses.

This is just another time when the Forum has influenced me to make a purchase.  Without the forum, I would have never even known about the buses at all.  I saw that one of the remaining nine was auctioned off for $4.1 million.  Talk about expensive!

So this concludes my bus purchases.  I will have six total after they all finally arrive.  The first four cost less than $100, and the two Futurliners cost over $300.  At least I have time to squirrel away some money for the Futurliners before they arrive.

Wow Bob, 2 !  You've got it worse than me!  I think the Futureliners will be nice, and hopefully, um, diecast (metal)!  I just received my Neo $80, 1:43 "diecast" Landau Cadillac Hearse with separate coffin and gurney.  The coffin is very nice, the hearse is not diecast!  It is plastic and resin.  The resin is so fragile I think if I placed the hearse into a glass of water, it would turn to sludge within 5 minutes!

John:  I was informed by another forumite that you only get what you pay for.  Cheap is cheap, and expensive is, well, just expensive.  It's all in, or not, as you see fit.

Steve:  If I could have traded a bag of shells, or even two, I surely would have given it serious consideration.

Spence:  I've been on the dark side all my life, I just didn't know.

rtr12:  I craved as soon as I saw it.  It was one of those guys on my shoulder preventing me from jumping in right away.  That, and the fact that Vija, my wife, kept saying, "stop buying, and get building!  Your grandchildren  will be teenagers and you will still be buying stuff!"

Lee:  I think you need more than one.

Carl:  You're right.  This purchase took a double load.

Rich:  I've always had it bad.  With everything I've ever collected, I couldn't have just one.  sort of like Lays Potato Chips.

Jim:  A happy belated birthday to you.  Wishing you many more too.

Brian:  You need to actually work into the train somehow, or buy a few, and have a dedicated station for them along the GMTOT route.

Dennis:  Here's a chance to double your money.  I'll give you twenty bucks for it right now.

It's one of those purchases where you just have to bite the bullet and find a way to do it.  Much like the Train of Tomorrow.  Was it a lot of money?  Yes.  But how long will we have to wait until that is built again, if ever.  Similar to the Gold Polar Express.  You just have to find a way to do it for unique items.

I was personally hoping that more versions of Futureliner were released with different payloads and maybe some sort of deal if you ordered 6 or 8 or 10 to make up a prototypical caravan.  But I know that was a pipe dream.  It's surprising enough that they decided to build even two different versions.

Bob' I can see by your last response to all of us how you really think about things….Forgive me for wondering but, how many hours a day does wife let you loose…..LOL   Or does she hide from you……..  buy the way,I ran my Trains today for the first time since the beginning of January….  I've been under the weather since the new year but making a strong comeback…….

Good purchase.  I've waited for this item to be produced for a long time.  One for me, but if they ever do Peter Pan Bus Lines green Futureliner, I may bite again.

These trucks are a very interesting piece of automotive history.  They are big, bad and red & chrome...sweet...and they have dually wheels in back and front...gotta love them.
