Lionel 036 RLH lights up but not throwing

Make sure the switch stand is seated and screwed down properly. Switch it to the opposite side as a test.

Try the switch on external power if you are using track power.

Remove the controller, and test the anti-derailing feature without it.

I've had a couple where the little limit switch wasn't making contact and that would stop the switch.  There is no adjustment possibility with those, so I added a small lump of JB-Weld to the plastic operating arm and the problem was solved.

in closing, does the arm on the limit switch swing and make contact with some switch part or does something push/bump up against it.

The black triangle-shaped part is motor driven to move the points, and contacts the limit switches on either end of its' throw to shut of current to the motor.

Thanks Larry and Gunnrunnerjohn  for the information and particularly your patience.

If you take the bottom plate off, you can operate the switch upside-down and see if the switches are contacting.  You can also look for other connection issues.  One issue I've found is the crimped track connections go bad rather quickly and won't carry current.  Whenever I open one of these, I solder those connections.
