Wednesday has returned! So has October! Nine months down and three to go before we roll into 2015. Get your photos together, and help us share the fun of railroading/railfanning.

Color has returned to Northeastern Pennsylvania! Not only is it a good time for leaf-peeping, but the same old trains take on a new look. This highway on-ramp in Scranton, PA shows a maple going through the change, and the last glimmer from the summer's goldenrods.

Ash trees at Steamtown National Historic Site's parking lot add a bit of color to the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society's FP7 pair.

Trains are on the move in Scranton also. Every weekend day in October features an excursion through the Pocono Mountains. http://www.nps.gov/stea/planyo...cursion-Schedule.pdf

Last week, I caught a special mid-week run of the Scranton Limited. Nickel Plate 514 ran through the Scranton landscape on a brief tour of the city and the yard. Here, she passes the beautiful 1908 passenger station from the Delaware Lackawanna & Western railroad.

And the 2011 All- Sciences Center of the University of Scranton.

South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This Alco steam locomotive was originally manufactured in Pittsburgh. To the Grand Canyon from the

Lake Superior and Ishpeming RR., one of the last steam operations. Converted to an oil burner, it may have last run using re-claimed peanut oil.

Finally got around to developing some film from last months Flagg Coal #75 photo shoot. Shot with a Nikon N90, Tri-x 400 B&W Film, and a 50mm 1.8 lens. Here is a sneak peak at a few shots.

Amtrak performed a series of (8) high speed runs between New Brunswick, NJ

area and Morrisville, PA. Like the previous tests of 2012, each run was reportedly

ran 5 mph faster then the last. A speed of 165 mph was the goal. Testing was

done late Monday, the 29th of Sept through into the early morning hours of Tues-

day. All this part of the NJHSRIP (New Jersey High Speed Rail Improvement

Program) which aims to increase speeds, service and reliability on this stretch of

the NEC by 2017. No official word on speeds yet.
