Not much of a chance to photograph trains this week so I have decided to do something a bit different for this weeks MWPF.

It is a throwback Thrusday!  Here are just a few shots I took at Trainfestival 2009.

Trainfestival 2009! One of my first major railroading events. I wasn't into photography yet but after this trip I went out and bought my 1st SLR and started photographing trains.

Thank you Diesel Dan for getting things started this week.

Here are some shots I took at RailCamp in Pennsylvania two weeks ago.

Thursday of RailCamp is at the Strasburg Rail Road. It is a work session, although the work is not too complex.

After a briefing with Rick Musser outside the Strasburg Locomotive shop, the kids laugh number 89, a 2-6-0 getting coal at the coal dock.

Not long after, the Cagney 4-4-0 steam crew arrived to give everyone some throttle time.

Alex Merrill rides along with us while still qualifying for his engineer's test.

Alex and Ryan Merrill take on turning the locomotive on the wye.

Later in the day, the RailCamp took on track inspection, repair and replacement of ties.

Many techniques were employed in spiking along with stabilizing the ties.

It takes teamwork on the track gang.

CN 89 arrives at the depot ready for another run to Leaman Place.

Now on to switching and coupling.  Each of us was put through the paces of signaling to the engineer what our desired task would be.

Here is a hopper in which the coal caught fire.  It was left to burn and subsequently buckle. It was finally cut up yesterday and today.  This is between the BNSF and UP tracks along old Route 66 east of Pacific MO.

I also caught a Warbonnet nearby waiting on the old mainline, now siding.  For the life of me, I don't know why they didn't keep this catchy paint scheme.

Lastly, I was excited to see a tank car painted in something other than black.  And clean too.  -Nathan
