Besides being a fan of trains and collecting them, I am also a fan of the TV show "The Big Bang Theory", one of the few tv shows I actually watch with all the trash on tv anymore. Anyway I would like to duplicate the set that Sheldon has in his room but cant find a clear enough picture of the set to see the numbers. I've narrowed it down to a SantaFe diesel engine, an unknown boxcar or reefer, an Evans auto loader with 4 green cars, a silver mint car?, a black flat car carrying a red and white rocket and a red and silver SantaFe bay window caboose. Does anyone know if it is an actual set or just 6 trains put together and what the set is? Any help in narrowing my search down would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

One of the prior episodes shows Sheldon when he first gets

his HO set, which I think was a Bachmann set.  Initially, he wanted

O Gauge "it's O Gauge or no gauge." But he was thrilled at the

smaller size of HO trains, and even went to pop a small N Gauge car

in his mouth.

There are at least two train-related episodes. One where he gets his

HO set, and another when he is operating his loop layout on the floor.

In typical Sheldon behavior, it upset him that there were so many people

in his room (3, counting him), so he told them to go away. Brilliant show.

OK, here are the model train references from Big Bang Theory that I've found:

Season 5 Episode 3:
-The Pulled Groin Extrapolation

Sheldon goes to a train store off-camera shopping for model trains.

Before the visit, he says he wants an O Gauge train, saying "Its either

O Gauge or no gauge".  But in typical Sheldon fashion, he changes his mind.

He even calls himself an "HO Trainiac", so case closed, no actual

O Ga trains on the show, so far.

Season 7 Episode 10:

-The Discovery Dissipation

Sheldon plays with his HO scale oval layout in his bedroom with Amy and Wil Wheaton

No O Gauge on BBT, but HO and one N Gauge car or locomotive that Sheldon

pops into his mouth.

I have high functioning Asperger's, and collect trains. So, Sheldon is my TV hero. One of the few "people" on TV I can stomach. Ok, I don't mind watching Penny, Penny, Penny too much either.Glad I found it. I don't watch TV often. Missed most good shows over the last 20-30 years until they hit late night re-runs, and I caught one after the news, or avoiding political bull pucks, shot from either side. Good TV, rare.

The blue aquarium car(I see blue) is missing one of my favorite "features". The 3-D "L" logo in between the windows, up high & center. Gotta be a knock off! What did K-line with the real water look like?

Industrial Rail, Penn Salt is my guess on the tanker. Nice, if that's it.

Adriatic, I have one of the two (I believe) "real liquid" K-Line cars.  They looked nothing like the ones from Lionel or MTH.   Each K-Line car had an aluminum body with display windows on each side.  I think the aquarium car shown is a Lionel or modern-era vintage... perhaps a special run for a train club.  I believe the Lionel "L" is there but not visible.

I'm working on putting the Sheldon Lionel together- I'm using the Lionel 8351 Santa Fe Alco, the DRGW boxcar, a Lionel Auto Loader, a Lionel Carson City Mint Car (instead of the Aquarium car), and a Lionel blue Santa Fe caboose (I'll have to paint the cupola yellow). It's been a chore because the 8351 loco can't be found with intact nose decal so I will have to apply a new one. Hope this helps.

I really want to see an episode where Sheldon ends up at York buying more than he or his girlfriend can handle.

I'd like to see an episode where Sheldon orders a BTO locomotive and it does not match the description when it arrives.  Or an episode where Sheldon goes to York and corners all of the manufacturer reps and explains how the details are wrong on each model they catalog.
