Several weeks ago a London light-rail consist derailed and overturned when taking a curve at four times the recommended speed. There were seven killed and many maimed. Apparently, the deaths and in juries were caused when the side windows crumpled into dust upon impact and the passengers were ejected. Automobiles have this feature, whereby the side windows are designed to fragment into small pieces. It was a design decision. They were not FRA type safety plastic or glass.
