Well, it truly is always something. Tomorrow I will see just what I've learned from this forum. Too late to take shell off tonight. My newly purchased Black Jack K-Line GG1 has been running beautifully. Tonight, all of a sudden, no TMCC response. With switch in "run," it goes forward when power applied. When switch in "program," it moves forward when power applied. All other locomotives work fine, so I doubt it is Command Base problem. No response to horn or whistle.

My guess: antenna wire broke or loosened? After a night's sleep, I'll see what I can find inside.

Interesting, though, that it only runs forward. I moved it to the "non-TMCC" track with a Powermaster, and it behaves there just like a conventional engine, but no reversing.  Well, tomorrow is another day.

Morning Ray, as another thread said, I am in my "morning fix."  LOL  I did try a re-program last night. The problem was in Program, the locomotive started moving forward, and there was no response to engine# or set.  I gently took the shell off this morning and all looks neat and tidy.  I don't see anything obviously loose.

I'll put the shell back and try again. I had a thought after getting the shell off  that perhaps a pantograph could have been pressed down enough to contact a horn and wondered if so might that short the antenna to the frame. I'll put shell back and try again.

More to follow.

Shell reinstalled, pantographs not touching horns. No improvement.

With switch in program, when power applied locomotive moves forward.

with switch in run, power applied, locomotive moves forward.

When on track with powermaster control, and Cab-1 regulating powermaster output, moves forward, horn and bell work, sounds present, but will not reverse...just keeps moving forward.

Time for an email to Boxcar Bill!
