Got an e-mail from Linda Greenberg just a bit ago saying the books are now "here". Called her to finalize payment and give my shipping info. They should start mailing them next week.

I have to say you won't be unhappy with this tome. I was fortunately asked to proof the book by Bruce. Beautiful photos and a very descriptive text. They dug deeply into the many variations that were produced over the years.
Bruce is now working on the 0-gauge phase.

Ron,
A good friend of mine will have part of his vast collection in the upcoming publication. From what I understand the O-Gauge edition will be released sometime in 2016.

I received an email from Linda today, called and ordered the book.
Got an e-mail late today with a media mail tracking number. Cool

I preordered the Standard Gauge book, and am looking forward to the 0 gauge one.
There were 250 copies printed. I received #6 in yesterday's mail.

Waiting for the O gauge version.
I believe I read the O book will be 3 volumes. Gonna be expensive for them all, but there was sooooo much to document.

That's the entire run?
If so, this going to be one scarce book.
I wonder when he will start taking reservations for the "O" gauge book(s).
My copy arrived yesterday .. #33 of 250. The volume includes Lionel 2 7/8" gauge trains as well as Standard gauge from 1901 to 1940. What a magnificent volume! The key variations are addressed accompanied by copious color photographs. Extensive discussion about the details of construction and motors is to be found. That less than pristine examples are often included for illustrative purposes adds to the charm of the work. A supportive nod is made towards modern reproductions as a way of expanding interest in tinplate. Although the book is not intended as a price guide, a stab at graded pricing of items was made, as well.
A true bargain for a C-note.

This book will be an IMPROVED auction tool for me!
Received my copy today and it really is a great book. The photography is amazing. I particularly like the way the photos are annotated with red numbers and arrows, it takes a lot of the guess work out of it. The whole format is really changed from previous Greenberg books, with the photos an integral part of the text, rather than just text descriptions and then a couple pages of photos. The new format is much clearer in making distinctions between versions. It also obviously entailed a LOT more work. Very nicely done, and a great service to the train collecting community. Thank you Bruce!
hojack,
Dave, I agree with you 100%. Bruce took a great big chance being the writer and publisher on this one. His reputation over-shadowed the risk involved. I'll be glad when my copy arrives .
Way To Go Bruce

Got my copy today. It is everything I could wish it to be. Very nicely done - great photographs, clear explanations. A tip of the hat to Mr. Greenberg and all who contributed.
