Weaver Models Diesels

In the fall catalog, FA-2's, GP38-2's, and RS-3 are in there. I picked up a geep for a friend when I was there in December. Give customer service an e mail to see what's available.

I noticed that too the link was gone. I called weaver yesterday they said they was out of stock on there diesel engines and they said would not produce them for awhile could not get parts. 

That stinks. I really like their FA locomotives and was hoping to get one in 2 rail sometime. Weaver made gorgeous diesel locomotives.

Yes it does stink and i was looking to buy the RS3 engine in WM or C&O in the near future. Dealers may still have some in stock. I would check weaver site see who all dealers are call them.   

Yeah I'll try to shop around to see who has what in stock. O scale is awesome but it can be very tricky to find what you want sometimes especially when the products sell out. I just got into O scale about 3 years back. So I really missed out on a lot of great products that the manufacturers put out over the past 7 to 8 years.

I got into O scale in 2002. I bought trains up til 2006 then after that. I didn't buy anything again til 2010  and i did miss alot of cars and engines. 

I'm a member of the New York Society of Model Engineers (NYSME) and an associate member the NJ Hi-Railers so I really will be buying a lot of O scale equipment.

For a 3 rail FA Alco you may want to check out WbB units. These are newer locos and are much more detailed and scale than many of the other WbB locos.

Add the better detail to the normal WbB great conventional runner......I have WM and B&O sets....

You can't tell but the side screens are open and see through....most grab irons added on.

WOW! That sure is a beautiful looking engine! What exactly does WbB stand for? 

Weaver produced the PRR BP-20 shark nose passenger diesel in brass a few years ago. I missed out on the first batch but placed an order for one in 2 rail  in the second batch. That batch was cancelled (due to lack of orders) and I've never found one for sale since. Still looking.

Interesting.  I had not heard that the diesel listings had been withdrawn.  I have about five of their engines and they are nice products.

Hopefully the parts shortage situation will be short-lived.

there are plenty of Weaver FA units available on the secondary market, either at auction or swap meets.

Weaver produced these units with two types of drives:

the earlier units had tower chain drives, the later units have dual 'china' drives.

knowing what you want will help decide which drive type to look for.

in fact there are a couple powered undec. units up for auction now.

Interesting to note that Atlas Trainman RS3 are some of the same offerings that Weaver has discontinued.  Maybe the GP38-2's will also show-up at Atlas.   I have not seen the Alco FA's other than Weaver.   I could be wrong and often.

IMO  Sign of the times.  I wish Weaver well, excellent company.

Weaver's FA is the FA2 and Williams FA is the FA1.  Williams is supposedly scale sized and not O27.  It is a step or two above their GP9's.
