Modeling the WW2 era I'm always on the lookout for all black tank cars after seeing numerous pictures of long consists heading east. Don, I have 3 of the Sinclair cars. I believe a Public Delivery Track special run. My favorite has to be another special run they did of the Indian Refining Co. . Plain black but a small flash of red and blue. A close second has to be the Wolfs Head car..

First choice for me would be the O-scale 1:48 aluminum tankers that K-Line produced before their demise.    They were way ahead of the standard offerings for their day, and I have a bunch of them including the Reading series, UP (special runs for The Train Loft), Black Santa Fe's, and a few one-offs as well.  Great looking cars!

Second up for me would be the tankers from Lionel's TankTrain series.  I was glad to see Lionel re-issue this series, 'cause I missed out on the first-runs from the mid-2000's decade, and I wasn't gonna pay the ridiculous prices sellers wanted on the secondary market.    Glad to see the dust has settled again for this terrific series of rolling stock.

Atlas-O's rolling stock is always top-notch... I just had to draw the line at some point, and sold them recently.  (I had about 18 of them.)  We all have our limits.

I have one of these tankers you reference here (I think): Ford Motor Company. Found it at a hobby shop a couple of years ago while on vacation. I don't own many tankers, but you are right about the aluminum ones from K-Line - great product.

No idea why, but I love my old-school "Lionel Lines" tank car #6025.  I know it's not super desirable, it's not scale (it's pretty small actually) and it's banged up, but maybe all these things are what I like about it?  Who knows...

Anyway, I bought it for a steal at a local show and it gets tons of time on the track.

Yes, Len.  I have those on my roster... a couple of the "one-off's" I was referring to.    One of those Ford's has a white background... the other is on a red background.

K-Line knocks another out of the park?  I am not even familiar with these K-Line aluminum tank cars, like I am with the passenger ones.  Howsabout posting a few photos.

I want tank cars to go with gas stations I have built...I have tracked down the two Lionel Skelly cars (but not the MTH one, which is modern propane, I think) and the MODERN Frontier Oil tank car from MTH, which is incorrect for my era.  What I have been trying to find is a photo of a Frontier Oil tank car prior to WWII, maybe 8,000-10,000, probably black, but?

If I find that, that will be my favorite, for I will get decals made for Atlas or some good

model.

What timing. I received this one from my daughter tonight for Fathers Day. There is a story in our family involving Chessie the Railroad Kitten that relates to when my daughters were both very young. The car is not scale, but it's the thought that counts.  As of tonight this one goes on my personal favorites list.

I like the Atlas ADM "Molecule" 25,500 gallon tank car. Prototypical ADM tankers have some nice graphics and I sometimes see them parked on sidings near me.  Unfortunately, the model needs an O-54 curve so I've had to pass on it. ('Way to big for the living room.)

9/19/2015 Update: Lionel's newest 2015 catalog features an ADM unibody tank car with the leaf logo that will run on O-31, 6-82855. I just preordered one along with a GATX from the nice folks at Charles Ro. Delivery is July 2016.  TRRR

I wanted to wait for Atlas to do a re-issue .... to go along with my HO set .... but I figured I should jump on these. I really like 'em.

I'm really starting to like things with maple leaves and beavers.

Can't go wrong with Canadian

This one goes back to high school. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and you actually got an education in the public school, our high school math/science block class went on field trip to Allied Chemicals El Segundo, CA Plant. This Weaver car pretty much matched some of the cars that were there when I visited the facility. We also toured Dow Chemicals and Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG Chemicals) in Torrance, CA, but Allied stuck in my head. Maybe it was because of the impressive size of the rail facility there.

I always wanted the red on white 6463 Double dome rocket fuel car to go with my 6650 rocket launcher car. A bare bones tank but too cool

It was the only "space race/cold war" accessory besides the balloon target car, I cant remember having, or at least having access to

I have one today of coarse, but cant find a photo

.

My very first has a lot of run time though. The weighted 6465 Double dome Sunoco rarely sees rest.
