3D Files acquisition/3D Game Models | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hello,

Besides the 3D modeling files here and other site where you can "purchase" them. I was wondering if anyone else knows of places to acquire 3D STL files. I found SKETCHFAB.com which had 3D STL files for download and they also have 3D game models. i understand that the 3D game files are made the same way and can cause issues with printing them and its really not the best way to go about printing models.

My question is has anyone undertaken fixing 3d game models so you could print the files? Also if you make your own 3D models for printing what software have you used and enjoyed. I have learned fusion360 and will likely use this to make models but does this work for things like people or figures well or is there another software i should consider instead?

a site called thingverse has quite a few items that can be printed. Many are in either HO or G scale but can be scaled to the size you need. The printing software I use is cura which is a free download and is very easy to use, once set up for your printer.

Blender is probably the best for figure modelling.

Fusion360 is what just about everybody uses for everything else.

Lots of people start out with TinkerCAD.
