As you all know, at the OGR meeting at York the big news was that Rich Melvin will be retiring as the OGR Publisher.  Soon to assume the top post as Publisher  is our good friend Alan Arnold.  As I looked around the hall, I recognized an old friend, none other than Myron Biggar.  Myron and his family ran the magazine for several years until the current owners took over.  I go way back with Myron as he first put my layout in run 120 back in 1991.  This was followed by OGR the video that was shot by a new person I had the honor to meet.  That new person was Rich Melvin.  Myron gave a good presentation and stated at his booth he had some remnants from the old OGR days at his booth for sale.  One item he mentioned was the OGR logo on the rear spare tire cover.    That cover garnished the rear of two OGR vans.  Somewhere I have a photo of that cover with my vehicle parked next to it.  After leaving the meeting, I went to the Biggar table in the Orange hall and promptly purchased the spare tire cover from Barbara (Biggar) Saslo.

I wanted to get all OGR owners past and present to sign it.   It will hang in my train room next to the Train America sign that Mike Reagan gave me in Ohio some years ago.   The first photo I am putting up is of Alan Arnold and Myron Biggar.  The past and future of OGR.

I will post a photo in a few days of this hanging in my train room.  This spare tire cover was always seen on the Fairgrounds near the end of the yellow hall.

Hi Marty,

That is such a wonderful idea!  Would really enjoy seeing a picture of it hanging in your train room.  I am wondering if Alex is looking to create a miniature version of it for the model of your home that he made for you!  When I see acts of kindness like this it  really illustrates what a great group of individuals that  make up this hobby.

Guys/Gals, thank you.  I did not know how this would be received.  This is my way to honor all the great people who are/were  OGR.  Like I stated, to have them all under the same roof at one time was something special.  While at the OGR meeting I heard Myron mention the tire cover I knew exactly what it was.   When I am no longer around, Dotty has instructions to give it to OGR.  For now it will hang in my train room.  Hopefully it will be there for a while.

Dave, Alex can make anything.  He is my guy when it comes to building.

That's great Marty!  For a small fee I will get you Mr. Christmas's autograph on that cover, LOL!

Best of luck to Rich, who did a tremendous job in his time as publisher and congratulations to my good friend Alan who I'm certain do an equally fine job. As Myron did, Rich is leaving the business in good hands and we are all thankful for that!

This was a time when all the players were present.

You are, obviously, a very thoughtful gentleman, Marty. That array of photos showing all of the principal players still available to us all is a hobby treasure, and to many of us, a personal treasure. I really liked seeing those photos one-by-one, as they signed. Thank you for the sharing and documenting of that moment in OGR history.

John,  many people heard Myron say it was for sale.  As soon as I heard him say that,  I knew I wanted it.  I prize the few items I have.

Yes John, I vouch for Marty.  I heard Myron say it, and I thought at the time, that would be a great prize for a longtime friend, contributor, patron!  When I saw Marty got it, I knew I was right.  Well done Marty, you did a great thing getting everyone concerned to sign it!!
