Hello everyone,

Yesterday was our 5th annual open house ( see pictures and videos on the announcement forum) and it was a huge success, with over 65 guests. I've always wanted to build a replica of Marty's house, since he's an ambassador to our hobby. He's helped so many forum member's including me for so many years, and i thought yesterday was the perfect day to present this model to him. His basement houses his one of kind beautiful layout, which I was able to get photos of to include in the basement area of this model. Once the model is placed on his layout and lit up, you will be able to view it by looking into the basement window's.

A BIG THANK YOU TO DOTTIE FOR GETTING ME ALL THE PICTURES NEEDED TO BUILD THIS REPLICA.

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE OGR FORUM FOR US HAVING ALL THESE GREAT FRIEND'S

It's as close as I could get it to 1:48 scale

WOW!!!  What a beautiful model!!  Alex...you are a great guy and all of us are very fortunate to have you as a friend!  Marty is THE ambassador of this hobby...always willing to share his layout and wealth of knowledge as well as his expertise.  AND...you are right up there in his league.

We have so many folks on this forum that help all of us enjoy our hobby more than we can imagine and I can't thank all of you enough for being part of the OGR Forum!!

All the Best,

Alan

Alex, that model is amazing! Very nice work.

Last week I spent two days in the real house with Marty and Dotty, shooting Marty's layout for our next video. GLA-13 will feature Marty's layout plus three more! It will be ready for York.

We shot some stunning scenes on his layout. Of course, it helps that his layout is a fantastic work of art. I had him doing things with the layout that he had never done before, positioning trains for shooting the video scenes. Whether we were using DCS, Legacy or TMCC, the trains ran flawlessly, even the ones running under live catenary!

I got to know Marty a little better during our visit. He's a gracious host and a great guy with an interesting life story. And, as others have said, he's a great Ambassador for the hobby.

Alex, will you be modeling Marty's layout in the basement of this new model home?

Alex , Dotty. and everyone with your very kind words, thank you from the bottom of  my heart.  This was a huge surprise to me.   I am very thankful for this great honor.  I knew nothing about this and was blown away.  Alex is very well known for his great craftsmanship and building skills.  I am sitting looking at the model as I post and cannot believe how accurate it is.  Dotty provided Alex with dimensions and photos and Alex made his magic happen.  I cannot thank everyone enough for the great support you have all given me over the past few years.

I always felt fortunate to have the large station on my layout built by Alex.   Now I am energized to create an area for my house Alex created.  Dotty took pictures of the layout through my front windows and Alex pit them inside the model so if you look inside the windows, you see the layout.  The day was fantastic as it was and the house was a monster surprise.

To Alex, Dina, and all the great friends present yesterday, thank you very much.  I am very lucky to know such great people and be able to call them friends.

Alex, Thank you for the opportunity to join you in this project. I knew you would do a spectacular job. The presentation to Marty was certainly a momentus occasion. He is still overwhelmed. I set it on the kitchen table and he stops and looks at it every time he walks by. Thank you, all our friends, who shared in this and took pictures and video, also.

And thank you and Dina for a wonderful time (Dina especially, for providing gluten-free dishes for me). It's always a pleasure to attend your open house,  run trains on your up and coming layout, catch up with old friends and make new ones.

Here are the original pictures I sent Alex to build the model from. I sent more, detailed ones of certain sections and the layout as seen from the from windows, too.
