A take-off (no pun intended) from the similar auto and truck thread. Let's see what is flying around your layout.

I'll start with one item that is special to me. Almost 60 years ago my Uncle, who worked for KLM, gave me a cool wind up plane.  I loved it but it disappeared over 50 years ago. Recently I was telling my cousin about it and guess what she found and gave to me? It turns out that her father also gave one to her.

For reference, the wingspan is about 12 inches. It will shortly be hung over Warrenville with some monofilament fishline.

I am pleased to share the two pics below:

When I was a kid, I had all sorts of airplane plastic models. Alas, when we moved, my mother practiced a passive-aggressive form of packing, apparently putting the models on the bottom of boxes, under much heavier things that crushed them. So I only have a few models from that era.

In the 1990s I bought a lot of WW2-era lead and other airplane toys on trips to London and other places in the UK. I have them on display in my living room in a shadow box. The gray one at left is lead, as are the several spitfires:

How about a Hot-Air Balloon that floats smoothly across my layout? See my article  Whats above your layout? in the CTT January 2020 issue, It was just published and should be in stores now.

The article details the operation and shows how to create an animated Hot Air Balloon to fill all that empty space above your layout.
