I made a similar post awhile back and just became to busy to follow the thread.  I have an American Flyer Log Unloading car with the box numbered 25003.  The car has an aluminum tray numbered 914  which I believe is the original 3 digit number for this item.  Looking at Greenbergs price guide, it indicates that with numbering and lettering on the bin the car is much more valuable than the one which is not numbered.  I realize that Flyer changed to a 5 digit numbering system at some point, but am wondering if the number on the bin matters.  There was some indication after my original post that this could be a valuable piece.  I would appreciate any help with identification.

The number on the bin is what determines value/price. In the transition from 3 digit numbering to 5 digit numbering, existing stock of 3 digit cars were often packed in 5 digit boxes until stock was exhausted. Tough to read the number on the box but it looks like 25004. If it is, it would be a box for an item that was included in a set as Gilbert had a numbering system for separate sale vs individual set item.
