Just got a UPS notice that my Frisco & L&N USRA 4-8-2's plus SP A-6 steamers have shipped from Nassau Hobby today. Be Here in North Texas on Wednesday.

I just received a FedEx notice that Charles Ro has shipped mine (Missouri Pacific Mountain). Will be here (St. Louis, MO) Friday. Fingers crossed.
Please post photos and possibly a video. I want one in the worst way Congrats
Both an A6 and a 4-8-2 have shown up on ebay.
Here is a video my dad took of his Southern Mountain.

Well, that's just very impressive. I have one of the old TMCC versions. It looks just as nice as the new one (in fact, I prefer my version's lack of "white wall tires"), except for the cab-tender gap. The new one's gap looks almost prototypical - sharp. Haven't "fixed" my draw bar yet.
The Southern cab roofs and tender decks were not typically painted oxide, to my knowledge; I painted mine black. The new smoke is great - mine will never do that, but that's OK. I have got to do something about my chuff rate. So many projects....
The Lionel USRA Mountain, like their USRA 2-6-6-2, is one of the best things Lionel ever did. The new version with the new smoke, chuff and short drawbar is very desirable. But, I'll make do with some finessing of my old ones, I suppose.
CC charged from Charles Ro, but no ship notice yet. Should be arriving early next week.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing
Here is the L&N version. I do like it as it seems match my house. Try and get the Frisco out Tomorrow - Mopac has not shipped from another dealer yet so any other Mopac fans can post those pictures for me. Will also get out the A6 - I went with SPL #3000.

Can anyone post pics of the frisco and the mopac? I dont get mine for a week or more... love to see pics of these...
The L&N is beautiful. Anybody get the new haven?
Blue Streak, that’s a beautiful L&N Steamer. Thanks for posting those nice pictures. If your able to post a short video, that would be neat. Happy Railroading
Superchief, that Southern Steamer is a Wow, Lionel did a great job in the smoking steam and steam whistle....Great video, nice layout, and the white wall wheels really set it off. It’s beautifully made. Enjoy. Happy Railroading

I have the Frisco out of the box. Its a keeper! The oil tender is great and the white walls look good - will post pictures tomorrow. Look forward to the Mopac pics as I am not sure when my copy will show up. I purchased it from a different dealer.
Lets see the new haven one
All I can say is wow and please stop putting photos on here because your making my wallet nervous.

Here is the Frisco - This is my favorite with the Oil Tender, white walls and decorative paint on the tender.

Also Here is the Southern Pacific Lines A6 #3000.
Also I realized after I posted these pictures that the lettering appears to be white in the Photos but is actually silver. The white walls are white.

Are there cosmetic differences between these engines and the 4-8-2's Lionel ran a few years ago? I know these are new road names.
I read that the smoke units and sound are improved too.
Nice model of the S.P. A-6. However, it appears Lionel used the same tooling from the original S.P. A-6 almost twenty years ago, i.e. the Pennsy Atlantic steam chests, bar pilot, multiple bearing crosshead guides and the Pennsy style trailing truck. The whole Pennsy Atlantic chassis. S.P. always used "lettering gray" not silver for their lettering.
Anyone get 3002 from the A6’s? If so, can we seem some photos? Thanks
That tender is showboating with those white walls and gold number and frame design.
Not sure that is true - I think SP used silver some times, the grey others, and in maybe two cases gold and orange.
The A-6 has the wrong tender. SP never had an oil bunker like that.
The Mountain looks really good! Did L&N really have white boilers?
Blue Streak, your three new engines look awesome. Given you also got new shells for your F units, you’re having a terrific couple weeks! Enjoy and thanks for all the pics.

Yes I am. I feel like Santa Claus has come. I can't stop looking at the Frisco 1501 as I think it is wonderful. Also I found out today that my Missouri Pacific arrives Monday and Lionel has received my T&P F units today as well. Yes I am having a great couple weeks of new trains. Hopefully in about 2 or 3 weeks I will be able to post pictures of the T&P's. Kunkle says the new shells look great so I am hoping they turn out superbly. Those F units were the first ever that I had opened, laughed(cried), and then contacted my dealer for my money back all in 15 minutes.
The L&N Historical Society has some old black and white photos of engines #400, 402, and 419. It seems clear that the boiler is lighter color than the smoke box, but it sure doesn’t look close to white
I saw one SP 2-10-2 with a light grey boiler. I never saw a green one, but there are plenty of photos . . .
The L&N appears to be painted - Russia iron would only be the jacket over the lagging. And it looks more grey-silver than white. I can buy grey-silver. I shall dig up a photo of my Seaboard Mountain for you. It has a light blue metallic boiler.
At a glance, the boiler and cab of the A-6 look close. It would be tough to do the Daylight scheme with that tender. It would be easy enough to modify it, but I know that is not something 3-railers enjoy.
I received my Southern Mountain today - running it over a SensorTrack programs the name and road number in Legacy as the North Pole Central mountain #1224...
look real nice! May try to pick one up at York.

The only engine I *have* to be an accuracy snob on. . . .
Lionel did a much better job on the tender than the engine, but all the white walls need to GO. They really mess up the graphics, and the Springfield shops would hang their heads in shame over them.
It really is a shame that they didn't do the right tooling for this class.
But the 1501 sits just a couple miles from where I am sitting right now, and it is the one engine I just can't accept compromises on. It's my problem, I know.

A Q tip dipped in a Lacquer thinner will have that white paint off in a minute. Easiest if you put it in a cradle upside down, apply power, and just hold the Q tip next to the tire. Don't think twice, its alright.

I realize it would have been expensive to get all the detail for each roadname, It would have been nice if they could have gotten the correct valve gear for the Frisco. The rest of the detail is pretty close and doesn't stand out as much.

I note that the "Lionel" A-6 of 20 years ago has the correct tender and a boiler tube pilot. Sunset did one like that - it was very lightweight brass, but fairly accurate.
I'm still disappointed they didn't make the Frisco 1522, but it still turned out nicely. I can always wait for the next run.

If your only reference is the Lionel catalog depiction you are wrong. I have the early S.P. A-6 and it was made exactly like the latest one, with a Pennsy E6 Atlantic chassis, slatted pilot and all. The Sunset Models brass A-6 was correct.

I was thinking maybe I could shop around for one of the MoPac engines (this casting is correct for the MoPac) in a few years. But that error is just plain discouraging.

Lionel does the catalog. They should be responsible. And I can’t read the letters on the TINY picture anyway. The blurry pic Looks like Missouri Pacific Lines like we would expect. I just expect better !!!! This is simple stuff.

Where did this picture come from? That's the not picture in my catalog. My catalog shows #5307. I just looked at my catalog picture with a jewelers loupe and you can't really tell. In any case, it doesn't really matter and I don't blame the Chinese. Lionel is the company.

Mike,
This picture is from the new 2019 Vol 2 catalog. It is the new 4-8-4 that I just ordered when Lionel agreed to put a coal tender behind it. But it is misspelled just like the Mountain. I had to go to RO's site where the Mountain pictures can be blown up nice and large and there it is "Missiouri Pacific Lines"

Spellcheck?
While they’re at it, ask them to fix the spacing between the words. It looks like they typed two spaces between MISSIOURI and PACIFIC, but used three or four spaces between PACIFIC and LINES. That jumped out at me before I noticed the misspelling. I’m sure new tender shells are coming - they’ll make it right - but, gosh, this has to be frustrating, especially for those of you who have to wait years between releases for certain roads like MoPac.

I noticed that and chalked it up to the extra "I" in Missouri. I wish I shared your faith by the way.

RickO,
I suspect you weren't singling me out but I want to explain anyway. I am new to O Gauge. So I don't want to get lumped in as a Lionel loyalist. When the Lionel catalog came out last year, I was excited to see some midwest road names and I placed preorders for four Legacy engines. They were the first Legacy engines I purchased and sadly may be the last.
Imagine my horror over the last 12-18 months as the Lionel problems unfolded. I took delivery of two Legacy diesels earlier this year. Both had problems. Fast forward to today and I absolutely dreaded the delivery of this engine (my only steamer). It was easily the most expensive engine I ever purchased. We'll see how it plays out. But for this newbie, Lionel is now 0 for 3. Now I'm really dreading the delivery of that fourth engine! But I have been taught a valuable (and expensive) lesson about Lionel.
Pre Fairfax Harrison Southern in black.
I looked over and found two issues, tender water capacity is 1200 vs 12000 and the hole in the boiler for the whistle steam. My first engine with whistle steam, I always cut smoke off to keep the mess down. I know many like the feature, but holes in boilers?? I'll have to live with it.

Is that a casting seam on top of the smokebox, before and after the smokestack, in the second photo?

I tried getting MTH to do a build to order (BTO) Mikadopalooza. Just a Black engine or black and silver. Nice big plain vanilla run. Change a road name, number, some chatter differences. How hard can that be???? The build and paint all the same !!! Only differences some stenciled letters. CRICKETS !!!!!!! !!!MISSED SALES !!!!! I haven’t bought any MTH in years as they don’t ever do my roads !!!!!! Oops. They finally DID re issued a Frisco E8. I bought 2 powered “A” and an unpowered “A”. Unrelated, but here is an A-3, and then back to Mountains. Seaboard was copied from a photo in a 1950s "Trains" magazine. I have no idea what color the boiler was, but chose a light blue metallic. The photo showed light grey.
Shame about those graphics. From what I hear, you are all quite lucky to get model trains from China, let alone accurate ones. Consider decals - properly done, they can do what you want in a hurry.

I have really enjoyed all the special runs being done by dealers over the last few years. I think MrMuffins did 7 or 8 alone in the 2019v1 catalog. Other dealers did them, too. I look forward to the special runs as much as the catalog itself. Maybe there is a dealer in your neck of the woods who would do this one for you. It seems well suited for a special run given the relatively low minimums needed to support it.

At this point I'd be happy if Lionel or MTH would run their scale USRA Mikado with a Vanderbilt oil tender and letter it for Southern Pacific. Otherwise the only SP Mikado in 3 rail was made by 3rd Rail years ago. Yeah it won't be accurate like the 3rd Rail model but I'll take what I can get.
Suspect prototype photos that may be copyrighted were deleted. Unless you have permission, do not use copyrighted photos and if you took them yourself or have permission, then note that in your post.
"Actually, i am not aware of any other Lionel mispellings like this.."
As noted, there are a few others amongst the thousands of products over the last few decades. One might add that MTH and K-Line have had a few of their own. Cannot remember the specifics, but it happens from time to time when you have non-native speakers doing the production, whether Japanese, Korean or Chinese. These cultures don't even use the same alphabet as the Western world, indeed, no formal alphabet at all . Should be easily fixed at Concord, NC.

I think you are right. It doesn’t excuse the gaffe by any means, but they aren’t gonna stick you guys with those tender shells that are clearly wrong. In the meantime, you have some other great new stuff.
