Collin,

I'm curious as to you thoughts on the vacuum toilets?

I found that though they may not have that chemical smell, they were more times than not a pain in the butt. I don't know how many times on outbound run-throughs we would get a little out of town and after the first or second flush the thing would quit working due to being full (too late to do anything now) or they not be working at all, in which case, there was a long delay, an hour or so until a dump truck could be dispatched, waiting to get out of town.

On inbound trains there was a good chance you would have to cut the unit off and take it to the house with the outbound crew having to get another lead unit.

Depending on if you were sitting still and which way the wind was blowing, the vented gasses were pretty nasty too!

If the chemical smell wasn't bad, I preferred the chemical toilet units.
