Gentlemen,
I’m curious about the Cab 1L operation in ‘conventional’ mode. When I run a Post War steamer I can’t get the whistle to activate. The relay just kind of chatters. It doesn’t quite want to pull in as I’ve observed with the tender top off. Checking track voltage I only get about 0.5 VDC when I press the whistle button on the remote. I’m powering the base and controller with a 180 Watt Lionel brick. Kinda stumped.

Well, first off, it's not the CAB1L that's doing anything with the whistle. I presume you have a PowerMaster, TPC, or perhaps a command version of the ZW that's actually providing power to the track and activating the whistle function. How about the full picture?

I’m using a Lionel180 Watt Power Master with a Cab 1L and Base 1L. Switch set to ‘conventional’.
