Help With Legacy 990 Set Software Upgrade

Through a good friend I got hold of a pristine hardly used first generation #990 set that is running V1.0 software. I would like to update this to V1.52 so it is compatible with my other base and Cab2 on the layout, which I upgraded about 7-8 years ago, the last time I did an upgrade. The notes for the V1.52 release indicate that if running V1.1 or earlier contact customer support before upgrading.

Since today is Sunday customer support is not likely going to yield any results, and then they may not offer any support for Cab2 anyway, since Base3 is out now. Can anyone provide the scoop on what needs to be done to upgrade? I vaguely recall that you have to upgrade first to on intermediate version before going to 1.52? I have a pair of re-writable modules on hand (loaded with V1.52 software), and can create another set if needed from the original V1.0 set. I also have V2 of the system utility user guide.

Bill, I later downloaded V1.60 but decided it did not offer anything needed. For sure there are subsequent later versions since then but V1.52 has operated flawlessly for several years running.

The Cab2 should have 1.74 to work best with Base3.  1.60 is the latest Legacy Base software.

You can go from 1.52 straight up.

Marty thanks I will check with Lionel service tomorrow. Does it make any difference if I already tried to upgrade the cab2 to V1.52, which of course did not work? then I read the notes and discovered the limitations of V1.0
