Centerline Track Cleaning Car

I've had an S Scale version since 1999 and have used it on code 100 scale track, code 148 American Models track, code 127 S Helper track and traditional Flyer track with no problems.

 

Soak the roller with Goo-Gone and after three orbit's (my arbitrary number) you're done.

 

We were displaying once when a smoke unit leaked all over the tracks and the Flyer 0-8-0 would slip to almost a stall.  We put the Centerline car in front of the locomotive and when it hit the cleaned section of track, it took off like a bat out of... well, you know where.

Check out the link to OGR forum of a homemade Centerline car.  Easy to do and very inexpensive.  It works well.

Before buying check out the R&L Lines track scrubber car at www.railtycoon.com

The CMX Clean Machine  works really well in HO. In O it should work even better since it has a wet pad followed by a dry pad.

The centerline works really, really  well. I have two and run one wet and one dry. I run them both, at either end, with the engine in the middle of the lineup.

 

It's about the same dimensions as a post war caboose.
