I have a newly acquired Atlas USRA 0-6-0 (brand new) that runs with 1 chuff per wheel revolution. Is that correct for this type of engine (both prototypical and TMCC feature wise) ? Nowhere is it noted that I can change the chuff rate as I can on my 3rd Rail Berkshire.

The Atlas 0-6-0 I'm pretty sure came with EOB. Prototypically it should have 4 chuffs. EOB has selectable chuffs. I don't know the sequence at the moment but I have the manuals. You basically program the engine to chuff once at the same point when doing your initial setup doing an upgrade. Your basically just throwing numbers at it till you narrow it down to exactly one per revolution. A few button pushes of the remote changes it to 4. It's reading the stripes on the flywheel much like an MTH. Atlas may have already done this for you. They may be shipped these with one chuff.

You have a steam engine?  There is a God?

The replies came from guys I believe I have all met personally and led me to successfully program 4 chuffs per rev into the engine. Followed John's link to the EOB manual and found the program there. I even picked the correct random number of timing tape marks to count on the first try (350). Pulled the engine and tender off of the paint prep bench (relettering it for the Maine Central) powered it up and did the reprogram. No mention of this feature in the Atlas owner's manual. What do you expect from a "diesel guy". By the way, Gary, I now own two steam engines!
