No joke, CSX actually has real special units now. They released two specially painted ES44AH's from their Huntington shops today, numbered 1776 and 911.

(Photos removed to comply with TOS.)

Obviously inspired by the Norfolk Southern First Responders Unit and the Kansas City Southern Veterans Unit respectively, but this is a step in the right direction nonetheless. Maybe heritage units in the future? We'll see.

Actually, CSX repainted their unit that was already numbered 911 so I’m not sure they’re “copying” anything. The matte digital camo unit is nothing short of a work of art by the designer, Tyler Hardin, and the Huntington Heavy Repair Paint Shop. Kudos all the way around.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with Tyler’s work, he did the Santa Train posters with Clinchfield 800 and even designed our Kentucky Steam Heritage logo. I think all of you are going to be happy when you see these units trackside and let’s not lose sight why these units were painted in the first place between the Wounded Warrior Fund and First Responders groups

These are beautiful units all the way around.  Very impressive for sure!

if any manufacturer is planning to do these, please take note on number board placement being above the windshield on both units!!

Very sharp looking locomotives.Never thought CSX would do some thing like this. But I think that a lot of railroads are doing locomotives like this.CSX just got tired of being odd man out.Its all good thou.On side note CSX is going to lengthen a siding near me.I cross tracks and saw work crews with new rail.

Your right of course but both Lionel and MTH will use the ES44ac that they have been using for years now. But both units have by Lionel and MTH do have the number boards above the windshields, they may not be AH's but they should be close.
