DCS, TIU wall mounting - Let me see how you accomplished it. Looking for good idea's.

 I tried a suggestion and drilled two larger holes, one on either side of the TIU's mounting plywood panel. I then used a bungee strap that has a ball on one end to secure the TIU to that panel. It sits on screws until the strap is fully attached. Because the panel is fixed, I have to crawl behind to put the loose end of the strap over the ball.

The next time I did it I just put screws right thru the holes after removing the feet. Not as good when upgrading. I don't have to crawl under.

The third and fourth TIUs just lay around. I got lazy having to move them in and out of the house.

    Joe in my case I need to mount the TIU to a wall that I can not get behind, due to the double wall construction.

I just screwed mine into a plywood "wall" under my layout.  Not sure the size of the screws, but just take off the little rubber feet and you are good to go.

A good point is to have that mounted to a panel that is removable or hinged then or have a strap that holds it, stay accessible on the front. How about Velcro?

If I had extra money, I would simply have a good working computer right at the control station for loading software.

   Thanks very much sir, in all the years of owning DCS I never tried to pop off the rubber feet on the TIU.  I will take your advise and screw the TIU right to the wall paneling, it should work perfectly.

Here's how I mounted my TIU as well as my power distribution blocks.  I have since added the WiFi and it just sits on the small shelf next to the 180W Brick.

I screwed two Velcro straps to the wall. That makes it real easy for access

Dave, our rubber feet would just fall off until the units were mounted. Above is the way we also mounted both our TIU's and AIU's. Used the thicker RealTrax rubber pads as cushions and drilled right thru them, they stop the screws from falling out. (Just make sure when you reinstall which end goes up as it changes the polarity Know from experience:-)

I also mount it on plywood, but I first remove the screws that hold the cover and put the cover on loose. If a fuse blows you don,t  have to remove the unit off the plywood to remove the cover.

   Thanks much for all the advise, I use 10 Amp Resettable Breakers between all my Transformers and the TIU.  Sense when the DCS came out and Barry advised me to use them, I have never ever blown a TIU fuse.  I even use them in front of my modern Z4K's, works perfectly.  I will permanently mount the TIU on the nice thick wood paneling of my Train Room.  If I decide to update the TIU at any time I will bright Mac to the Power station.  Usually I have one of the Techs here on the OGR do all my updating however.
