Enhancing MTH Passenger Station

Ok here is mine - this thread came at the right time.   I just purchased this a couple weeks ago and you guys gave me the inspiration to take this on.  This was my first.  Need to bring it to life with lights people etc.   but that could be awhile wanted to get this posted.

I bet we see this station and reminds us of a station that we seen in our past. This station to me looks similar to the station in New Brunswick, NJ station just that station is elevated.

Chris, I love your station.  I am also looking for automobiles like you have in the scene.  Can you tell me where you got them or what brand and scale they are?  Also, did you buy your Rustall directly from their site?  I ordered some two weeks ago and have not received an email or the products yet, although the money was taken from my PayPal account.

Kitbasher:   thanks for the kind comments about the station.   Regarding your questions:   All the vehicles in that scene are Solido.   Over the years I have purchased some from other OGR forum members, some on eBay, and in recent years, I have found some local swap meets for die cast vehicles in New England so I have been trying to attend at least one of those a year to find applicable vehicles from 1930's and 1940's.   

I purchased my bottle of Rustall years ago from a local hobby shop and I haven't used it up yet, so I can't help with your issue about getting delivery scheduled.   I have in recent months determined that I can come close to duplicating their Rustall rust colored wash product by mixing a combination of rust colored acrylic paints & ground up pastel powders in 70 or 91 percent alcohol and applying it like a wash.

The platform is 18.5” by 8.5”.

Yes, the base comes off easily, but if you look at the pictures, the roof line over the  platform has the same dimensions.

MTH just re-released these if anyone is looking for one. I've got one on the way.

I did mine recently, like you, I have to give many thanks and credits to Rich Battista as his video covers this topic really well.   I two tone painted the windows and doors, Used Rustoleum Espresso SemiGloss for the dark brown color, and Rustoleum Camouflage Sand for the 2nd color on the windows....

I painted the brick with Krylon Maxx Rust colored primer, then colored about 30 percent of the bricks with two other colors, one was the rust color pen for painting rails, and the other was a flat brown out of a rustoleum can applied with a small brush... I tinted the white spackling before I applied it, as I didn't want to wash the whole building with india ink and alcohol and change the brick color.   Removed the base and built a new base after seeing the post on OGR by Ed Rappe....   Mounted 6 LED lights over the exterior station platform  and 4 more inside on the first floor (I added a second floor) so it remains dark for now.   I used 3 MM pre-wired Warm White LED's that I buy off of ebay with the resistor already wired in....  Sorry I dont have better photos of the LED install.   

Chris, I'd love to see your base and where do I find the post from Ed Rappe that you mention? I need to build a smaller base for my station.
