Epiration date for posting to old topics

This topic in the "Hi-Rail, O27, and Traditional 3-Rail O Gauge" made me think of a solution.

Perhaps there should be an expiration date for topics in the forums, after which new posts can't be added. The topics would still be able to be accessed, and linked to other threads.
