Does Lionel have a search function to find a dealer carrying a specific item no. MTH has a function on there website where you can locate a product and find a dealer that has the product In inventory.

They do not.
That explains why I cant find it. I bought several MTH items that way. You cant buy it if you cant find it.

I would love to see this! When MTH was a hot commodity they had a lot of leverage and influence over their dealers, and were able to push this through. I think maybe some of the dealers didn't like the extra work, but IMO it's a good thing for them, and for the hobbyist. It's even a good thing for Lionel, because they can see what's really selling, and what's just sitting on shelves. Along with eBay prices, it's a great way to gauge when the market will support the reissue of a piece!
Put the item number you want on the Want To Buy forum. Many people here will help you find the item.
The biggest issue with MTH's system is it relies on the dealer to manually input each item. If it worked with a scanning system it would have been a lot easier. Many dealers don't even update the online product locator.
