During the dawn of O scale the one name that rose to the top for top notch, reliable, work horse engines was Fred Icken . Icken's drive proved to be iron clad for long hours of continuous running logging many miles ( not scale) at the Century of Progress World's Fair in 1933/4 . Icken engines were expensive at the time costing 2 -3 times what others charged . Icken would continue to custom build engine into the 1950's . Here we have a mid 30's NYC Hudson ... which suffered a rough life ( due to poor storage in the past) ..but it still happy to pull the 20th Century for another Century or so.
