Remember the excitment we all felt when we went downstairs on Christmas morning and found our first Lionel train under the tree? Here's a chance for us to come together and make that happen for a child that may not be as lucky as we were.

This is a project we are working on to put a nice set together through donations of train items made directly by OGR forum members. The set will be donated to an under privilaged child(children). Here is a picture of one of the items I am donating. It has been amazing to find such generosity amongst our members here. Please e mail me if you would like to know more.Merry Christmas and Happy Holliday's to all.Nick

This is a great idea. The old ambassadors program did a lot of good in its time.

I even have a family in mind. I just made a discreet e-mail inquiry to see whether they already have any. This is the story (if he responds, I'll send the actual links along

Last year, our TV weatherman (small market and definitely not a high-paying job)  and his wife finally got to adopt their foster son. In spring, the Dave Thomas Adoption Foundation notified them that his siblings were back in the foster system, so they took off to get them and have adopted them, too.

In June, they were just getting settled into their new house when it caught fire. They lost most of their belongings, including the kids' toys. Granted, people have given them a lot, but if this good thing Rockstar started does come to fruition, and they're interested, I'd put them on the list.

OK here is what I have so far:

Rail king car as pictured.

8-fastrak 0-36

2-fastrak 10"straits-one is a terminal track(I made)

So were set on track.

I'm in Cuyahoga Falls! :-) I'm going to have my son pick a car to donate to the cause. We don't have many cars, but it is more than some kids have.

Could even meet up to drop off to you to save on some shipping.

Thank you Pastor Bob.I sent you an e mail!!NickOriginally Posted by Engineer Bob:

If no one else has a good candidate in mind to receive the trains, I can do some looking in my area. I'm a Pastor and Bishop, and often work with families in need. I have one small boy in mind who is just nuts for trains. I can do more checking on the family situation if you wish. I am located in the Lancaster, PA area.

If anyone is donating any open hoppers, ore cars, or gondolas, I will donate some loads. I do have an ore car or two. It looks like there may be the start of some trains for another person. I have a box of tin p[late track that can probably make two ovals. I'll have to pull it out and see how much I have. My e mail is in my profile. Great cause Nick!

I have enough almost new, O31 high profile traditional track for two ovals. 16 curves, 24 straights, and 4 half straights. My friend used it on his layout, it was brand new, and gave me the whole platform, so I saved the track.

RockStars1989,

Please drop me some e-mail at Pine-Creek@live.com, most every Christmas Pine Creek Grouse Dog Trainers makes a Christmas gift to a needy Veteran or Active Duty Military family, we have been doing this for many year now.  If the child you are gifting your trains too, has past or present military service members in it, I will donate the Complete Lionel RTR Christmas Express Train Set, that we are planning to gift to a needy Veteran Family this Christmas.  If the child or children have Parents, Grand parents or Great Grand parents who have served in the US Military let me know, and thank you sir for starting this thread.

Merry Christmas

 PCRR/Dave

Bill and other members,The response has been amazing.I have a bunch of freight cars,a very good size oval of fastrak.A conventional locomotive. All we need now is a small transformer(and a caboose if we can get one).If nobody comes up with a transformer, I will  go to my LHS and buy a used one(he will probably give it to me for free).I am only doing one family.Engineer Bob on the Forum has a family for us. Due to the amazing responses, next year I will start earlier and do 2 or 3 families.Thank's again everybody.Nick

Stay tuned for the conclusion,I will post the names of all the donors, what they contributed and pictures.
