For FEF, how about an FEF-3 in the Greyhound scheme leading a similar (but fantasy) Veranda turbine? These are video stills and so nowhere near as sharp as other postings, but the object was to illustrate the smoke, which is copious in both. The first run Legacy FEF-3 is the champion Lionel smoker of all time but prey to AC regulator failure and now I hear (but have not seen in mine) zinc pest. Well, if that's true then this is for posterity; I have great fun running this engine, especially together with the Veranda.

Happy Friday everyone!

For FeF we got a crew change and some track side service for WP 485 GS-64 and WP 918 F7's. Gettin' 'em ready for some overnight freight runs. A little banter between engineers Fast Freddy hanging out the F7 and GS engineer Callum Finn waving at Freddy, as to which can pull the most, diesel or steam?! Hmmm, could be a drag race to the mainline!

Patrick has inspired me to come up with some short stories along with the photos! ;-)

Awesome picture.

Vern, sweet SF Warbonnet F7 ABA Set! Looks like it's from the late 2000's with that level of detail and paint. Do you mind if I ask if it's set 6-24589? Happy FeF!

Thank you, Scott. Yes, this is Lionel’s 6-24589 set from 2007. I was lucky enough to get it NIB very reasonably a couple of years ago. Happy FEF to you, too. At least what’s left of it. 😉

And thanks to leads from Vern (Yellowstone Special), a little while back I was able to source the matching B unit for my (later than his, I think) A-B-A set plus the extra 15" cars that go with it - all Lionel classics. I have posted this image before but I am particularly partial to this set viewed from this front angle:

P.S. Sorry for being a day late!

Patrick, great photos! You have some of the coolest cars, trucks, and horse drawn stuff! That Renault is not what you would expect to see on a train layout. ;-)
If coach Joe is asking about the Coca-Cola delivery truck it’s 1:50 scale. How do I know, I have one also. It’s also my front end Friday

They were sold under several brand names, but they are getting hard to find so hang on to it. That hook and ladder fire truck is a beauty! I like the way you have it on a flatbed rail car.
Happy Friday Patrick and OGR members, and have a great weekend!

Scott - thanks for the compliments on my photos!  AND thanks for telling us the scale of the Coke delivery truck and the heads up about its' scarcity.  I will definitely hang on to it for sure!

Hancock52, super nice SF F3 ABA set from 2005 6-14588 plus the powered B unit. The models are beautiful, and it must look awesome cruising your layout.

I too have the 6-14588 set, however I bought it used and the powered A unit has had some problems, so I haven't run it in a long time.

Your ABBA set must pull nicely with the powered B unit, enjoy your set!

Hancock: Nice ABBA set of the Santa Fe F3s. I ran through all sets of the SF F3s, starting with the #17 when I ran conventional. When I converted to command control, I traded the #17 in for the #18, then traded that in for the #19.

But when I found the F7 set, #332 available, I grabbed it and sold the #19. The F7 pulls 2 dummy units (A & B) and 7 aluminum passenger cars without a whimper. In fact, I have to watch the speed, or it would fly off the layout. Best diesel loco I’ve ever had.

Scott: Love your Western Pacific F7 set. What year is it?

Hi Vern, my WP F7 ABA set is from the 2008 catalog (6-34513) and is a Legacy model. I’m really happy with the set, runs and sounds great!

loL don’t let that Santa Fe ABA run off the table!!!

The best Lionel ABA set I've ever had.

Nice Vern.

I always thought that these SFs were a little bit hokey, I suppose since they have shown up everywhere in ads and photos and layout videos for toy trains for far too many times for as long as I can remember ................but ..........too beautiful to finally pass up..........I caved for MTH Premier ps3 Plated ABA F7s.         Thanks for sharing yours
