I was checking my banking this am and surprise, I found a significant charge from ggd.  I have some cars on order but I do not know if that is what the charge is.  my cars are the heavyweights supposedly due on may 30th.  I called and received the recording.  does anyone else know what is going on before I persist  with ggd?

Me too.   I have changed my shipping address with Sunset 3rd Rail and Golden Gate Depot, to the UPS Store nearest to my home, as signature is always required and I am too busy to just stay home all day.  The UPS Store receives the package and holds it for me to drop by and sign for it at my convenience.

I ordered a Santa Fe dining car as well as a Texas & Pacific baggage car.  A T&P or Missouri Pacific Eagle scheme heavyweight baggage car was often in the consist of No. 23, the Grand Canyon and/or No.7, the Fast Mail and Express during my younger years.

Good idea.  I have very few items delivered that require a signature and I don't like staying home for them either.

I've worked with another dealer that lets me know when the item is ready to ship and we coordinate a shipping date.  I've never liked it when the dealer sends it out then tells you its coming.  Maybe they think it will help keep last minute cancellations from happening.

On May 29th Scott emailed invoices to all those who ordered HW cars.  This usually happens when Scott gets an arrival date for the containers from the shipper.  Add a week to ten days to that date to clear customs and be delivered to 3rdRail's warehouse. You need to then add a day or two to unload and sort the boxes before Scott can start packing and shipping.  All the cars have been spoken for so he has a lot to do.

My CC was charged on the 24th, but I haven't received by shipping notice.  I expect I'll receive the cars after the 4th.  I'm glad Scott did this rerun of RPOs and BMs for my express mail train.

Tom,  I think the T&P heavyweight baggage car is Pullman Green with gold/yellow graphics.

jan,

I never received an invoice.  the reason I instituted this particular subject is the first thing I found about this shipment was a surprise posting to my credit card. I am happy that the shipment arrived, but finding out via a credit card charge is discerning.

Nice! I did the payment plan with USPS money orders. My E6 and the Heavyweights should be arriving shortly or as I stated to them if they can't ship by 7/1/19 to hold shipping til 7/25/19.

Looking forward to a second scale heavyweight set. I just wish GGD did the heavyweight in the PRR F.O.M. scheme to match my sleeping car done by them last year. Oh well maybe next time.

Mike,

That's interesting. I was told by their sales people that they didn't keep CC numbers.  So, I send the CC data back with each invoice.

I used to get asked about a purchase until the CC company developed a history of usage.  I lead a really dull life so I never do anything unusual.

If so, the joke is on me.  Oh, well.  I ordered it based on the illustration on the GGD web page, but, whatever color it is painted, I'm keeping it and running it.

not that it matters now. I originally posted this topic, because I was surprised, angry to have an accidental find of a ggd charge to my credit card.  I was checking on line, getting ready to pay bills.  I in all honesty cannot accurately state that I did or did not provide a card for this specific purchase.  I never received an email regarding impending shipping etc.

I have now received a notification that the "package" will arrive next Tuesday.  plan on being home all day, not likely since I already have plans for part of the day and I will keep them.  it is disconcerting since I have been a regular for all prr at ggd for years, but who knows.

I got notice last night in an email from Scott M that the last of the paid GGD heavyweight cars are being shipped out today.  I look forward in receiving these cars so I will have two PRR heavyweight sets and an extra sleeper painted as F.O.M. For coaches as many PRR fans attest in previous postings here will be the P70's from the turn of the century.

I have never ever seen a baggage or rpo car this clean.  they are beautiful.

Mike,

That is why many consider GGD the best bang for the buck.  About twenty-five years ago, Jerry Williams saw the market for scale size heavyweight cars.  He offered five car sets consisting of one baggage car, one observation car and three passenger cars.  His five car package set the standard for the industry.  Modelers asked the major manufacturers to offer just the baggage car, but those suggestions fell on deaf ears.  GGD stepped forward, took the risk and we may now have has as many heavyweight baggage cars as we can afford.

Remember the old Hungarian saying, "No such thing as too many heavyweight baggage cars."  That's not really an old Hungarian saying, I made it up.
