Chris, If you have a 1960-1990 straight truck with a van body or tank body you could remove the cargo carrying portion and install a bashed dump truck body. It would also work with a semi tractor, either remove the fifth wheel or fabricate the floor to allow for the fifth wheel. With a little bit of weathering (ever seen a clean dump truck?) and applying the four feet rule you'd have a decent truck to fill your need. Fabricated from plastic, it could be an empty truck looking for a load. Formed from a piece of wood with cardstock used to extend the front, sides and gate a bit you could easily add a load of aggregate much like the loads of coal built for hopper cars. The silver truck is a K-Line trucks with cardstock used to extend the sides as is the one with the raised bed. The bed was removed, a wedge placed on the frame and some rubber cement was applied. At less than ten dollars per truck, a lot of play time.
Bekins truck's cargo compartment at left margin is a piece of wood cut to size on a BB-157 chassis with cab.
Dry Ice truck in center of picture is a semi tractor with a block of wood for the insulated cargo compartment. Decals from Atlas. Looking forward to what you do.
