I glued down the cinders first and them let dry. I used white glue with the static grass and applicator next. Then put down more cinders in the grass and soaked it with water. I applied white glue to the cinders and let it flow in. Once that dried, I rubbed in dry cinders to cut the wet look. This was all an experiment so I think I could have just started with the static grass but not sure.

Looks good to me not to overdone I like it, but then I have always liked the way you do your scenery.

I have a Noch static grass applicator and never used it! I'm afraid I am stuck in a time warp of using Woodlands foam seeing your effort makes me want to have a go as well the Steel Mill area has plenty of sidings that need the "Treatment" maybe this is the time. I have to stop being a dinosaur and try new things.

It's turned out very well.

I've been meaning to get a static grass applicator, but I've just been using neat PVA and a vacuum cleaner.  I think that yours look much better.

That's some of the most realistic grass growing in among the tracks I've seen.  Great standard to use as a goal.

That looks so real and prototypical. Why am I not surprised that it looks just as beautiful as all the rest of your work does.

I have seen corn, wheat and soybeans growing along the ROW here where the unit grain trains supply the chicken feed mills.

Top notch Chris - please keep us posted on you approach to modelling  sand on the railbed.  To date I haven't found a product that looks fine enough, be it spots of sand in yards or fully sanded right of ways on mainline grades.

Roo, practice a little and you'll get the feel for it. It takes very, very little grass to go a long way. The grass can look a little heavy from different angles as shown in the second photo. While it is plausible as it is, if I do more of this I think I'll make it even more faint.

I'll let you know how I go eventually, at the moment I am starting to build 16 Ingot buggies using old Atlas ore car frames for the base and styrene for the rest.
