John and others..I want to construct a test set for the older TMCC boards. sound up to 5.0,power boards for those and R2LC and R4LC receivers. I have most of the items on hand with the exception of a mother board. I need a part number for Lionel Parts site for a mother board that is available. Thanks in advance.

Richard, most any diesel motherboard will do. I had an old MB layout around, so that's how I built mine. It has expanded several times, now I can test the Odyssey I boards, the Cruise Commander M boards, as well as the ERR RailSounds Commander boards. I just wired up all the common stuff that is used to switches or connectors and stuck them on a board.

When you're picking motherboards, pick one that allows you to take any of the boards off individually. Some diesel motherboards have a couple of the boards stacked so you have to take one off to get to the other one.
I agree....no stacked boards. Not worried about size on this board. I have put this one in the Lionel cart,waiting for the magic weekend. Note to others,this may or may not be a good choice.
