Al,

I live 170 miles directly south of Springfield in Russellville, AR.  For the last year I have been in the process of establishing the Mid-America Chapter (MAC) of the Standard Gauge Module Association (SGMA) in this region.  There are other SGMA members in Tulsa, Kansas City, and St. Louis.

I am wondering how many of our forum members live within 200 miles of Springfield Missouri?  I am thinking about a Tinplate Show and having a base count would give of could have a get together some time in the future.

Your time to sound off.

Al

Sorry I have not gotten back to you with more info.  I have been out of town and have had computer problems with hackers.  I would like to catch those and show them a real hack.  You can use your imagination if you want.

Will be getting back with new info on date and time.

Al

P.S.  Did get to see Jurassic pARK IN 3D.  aWSOME SHOW.

Good evening folks.  I know that we have a lot of questions and I hope I can help you.

OMRA a club that has been putting on great swap meets and have good shows.

Now, if we need to participate in the meet here is in info.  As we have some Tin Plate members, you can get on the OMRA web site at www.omraspringfield.org. Dave Hookensmith is your contact for info.  The date for the meet is the 4th Saturday in September. Now, if you want to bring a display of Tin Plate, get in contact with Dave.

If you have questions, my email is arclair@sbcglobal.net

Now, how many of you could make it to meet?

Al,

With respect to a "...a display of Tin Plate...", are you talking about a modular layout on which Tinplate trains are being run or simply displaying Tinplate trains on a table top?  If the former, what gauge Tinplate, i.e., Standard or O?

If the former, a SGMA layout is only modular layout for Standard Gauge Tinplate that I know of and while I have a bunch of SGMA modules, including the four critical corner modules, I don't have enough modules to construct a complete SGMA layout and will need other SGMA members to participate with their modules in order to erect and operate a small SGMA layout at the OMRA's train show.  After I return from York, I will check with those in the area to see if any are interested and available to play with their Standard Gauge trains at the OMRA's train show.  (Note:  Tinplate fans in this region are certainly encourage to join SGMA and participate in the fun of building SGMA modules and operating their Standard Gauge trains on a SGMA layout!)

Lastly, I need to note that because of the large size and heavy weight of Standard Gauge modules and trains, the logistical requirements and time needed to transport, set up and break down a SGMA layout are significant and I will need more info on the OMRA's train show hall before I can proceed much further.  In fact, it would probably be best if I check out the hall myself after I return from York to determine if a small SGMA layout will even be possible.

I leave at noon today for the SGMA Board of Directors meeting at York and will not be reachable until this coming Sunday, when I will be back home in Russellville, AR.

Depends upon the timing of the event.

We're looking for a place to purchase,

around 60 - 75 miles S.E. of Springfield, Mo.

within the next 90 days.

Dave

Dave, we welcome you to the lakes and look forward to meeting you.  Let us know when you are settled. You will be close to Leaving Tracks who resides in Mtn. Home. Seeing his layout is worth the move.

My cell phone is 417-763-0571 and EMAIL is arclair@sbcglobal.net.

Lets hope all goes with your move.

Al,

I've been on line & the phone all afternoon trying to set up a viewing of a house in Ava for late Monday or Tuesday. A house SWMBO has been interested in dropped in price yesterday.  She did a lookie loo at the exterior last week when she was up there and want's to drive up Monday with me to do an interior inspection.  So if all goes well and no one else buy's it over the weekend, we'll sign papers next week if it's acceptable, interior wise for SWMBO.  Then I'll move up with some of the dogs & paint & do whatever remodeling she wants done while this place is on the market.

I will be in touch, when we/I  get moved, for certain.

Dave
