Yes. It looks a lot more prototypical. When I get home early am tomorrow I will post pictures of my incomplete Bernie Stumple car along with an o scale air tank that HB engineering ( now defunct) used for their metal o scale double stack cars back in the late 1980's.
Btw, Bernie Stumple, Right of Way Industries did the same as you initially did with using the incorrect air tank (reservior).

Pulleys and chains are in place on the well cars:
I'm waiting for some grab iron to finish this step. After, painting: I have purchased the spray; I think I've found the good color for these cars!
In reality, the color is a little bit darker (it's because of the automatic flash!)

Hello,
Now the chains are glued to the side linkage rod; big moment when I inserted the rod inside the chain ring!!! no trembling allowed, swearwords accepted!
I noticed a little mistake: the brake wheel is not enough close to the steps! too late!!
Attempt of painting today: too hot for the spray outside; I will see tomorrow morning........
After the important comment of PRRHORSESHOECURVE about the air tank (thanks to him), I sent to my "3D guy" the drawing in .stl file to make them for me; it's not important if I put them later on the platforms at the same time as the walkways.

First coat of yellow; the color is like I imagined; I think it's quite the good one....
I'm building the third well car in late because I thought I had not 1 mm styrène anymore but I have found in my drawer a rest of a sheet; this thickness was necessary to do the sides of the well; all the other parts are ready.
Just after you in the USA, today is our "Fête Nationale" (national holiday) and we welcome your President for the 100th anniversary of the US military troops arrival during WW1.

I just put on a single yellow coat; the paint is covering well. I think a second one would hide some of the the details.

These look great. I would love to get two sets of those walkways...I've been looking for something like that to repair a couple of right-of-way intermodal cars. Any chance I could buy them from you?

The first well is on its "legs" for rolling tests! all is OK!
3 things lackings: couplers, brake system and markings.
The markings are made with Open Office (for letters along the sides) and Micoplan (for logo "TTX" and "40") softwares; 'waiting for the decal paper.

Factories are considerably better than me! that's why I like to purchase some products when I can do it! but my pleasure is to work with my hands and my 2 remaining neurones, jumping from my PC screen to my workbench and vice versa all day long (almost!).

Trucks ordered the 2nd of this month and arrived today after a big trip: USA ----> Europe (London, Vienna), back to the USA, then Halletorpe NE and back to France via Chicago!!!!!!!!!
Happy to receive at last these parts! now the 3 brothers are on the tracks!
It lacks the decals and some little work but they are almost finished!

One more detail on the 3 well cars: couplers lift bar:
Just lack the air hoses; the part I ordered is not correct; I waiting for the good one!
Some touches of yellow also!
The couplers are from the KADEE new serie (here # 745); I had to add a 1 mm piece of styrene between the chassis and the coupler; this one was too high. As the end of the car is a 3D part, I have to update the drawing.

First attempt with decals! it's not my thing at all!
More, half of these flew away when they were dry!!!!!!
"DTTX 53029" is made on self-adhesive paper because in spite of several varnish coats, the black ink on the decal kept on going away........
Nevertheless, brand new decal sheets!

You know JPV, FYI in this months (9/2017) RR Model Craftsman, there is a good article with plans of a unique ttx DTTX well car variant of the 1990's but has now been retired due to obsolescence. You might want to check that issue out for yourself. I am considering having one custom built because it's that unique!
