Keystone,

Look at your screenshot.  The site you tried to access was www.legacykline.com.  You did not try

http://www.legacykline.com/apps/kl/catalog.html

which worked for me on a Chrome derivative browser called Vivaldi.  In fact, when I clicked on the link you tried to use, my browser automatically took me to the new address.  Your issue is probably a browser security issue involving the DNS server utilized.

Does not work on Firefox Quantum 69.0b12 either; what comes up is:

Not Found

The requested URL /apps/kl/catalog.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I suspect you have a cashed copy, that link doesn't work.  For the URL http://www.legacykline.com/, I get this.  This indicates they're probably having a web server issue, but they exist.

Given that their database is likely scrambled, your extended URL doesn't find anything at the server address.  You're just trying to reference the actual catalog, until the site is up, that won't work.

A check on WHOIS sees that the domain is still registered.

I think that Verizon may be experiencing some DNS issues.  A little further research yields...

Really, right outside my door with a ping of 3ms is the site?  I don't think so!

I turned off WiFi on my T-Mobile phone, cleared the cache and tried www.legacykline.com again.  Not any better.

There seems to be a more general issue with DNS, at least in my area.

Question for someone that's seeing the site.  What does a PING return as an IP address?

Chuck, I tried both addresses as noted in the browser line in both screen shots above.  Strange that today I'm now able to access the K-Line Legacy sites from both addresses above without any changes to my browser/cache etc.  I sometimes receive those pesky DNS error messages which I'm trying to determine if it's due to browser settings OR my local Comcrook (oops I mean Noncast, oops... Comcast) connection.

Must be the proverbial gremlins at work. I get nothing but error messages trying to open Legacy Kline.

Something akin to this is called the "Paulli Effect" after the well known (in European physics academics circles)  Austrian physicist, Wolfgang Pauli.  Any time an inexplicable glitch occurs it can be blamed on this effect.    He was actually celebrated for influencing experiments in a negative way just by his presence at any time in a laboratory setting.   It's a funny story and worth looking at.

It's been coming and going Phil, I'm sure it's just a temporary thing.

Yep, still not working for me either. Same messages as yesterday. It is frustrating. Should we assume the site is already aware of the problem? I wouldn't know who to contact about the problem or how to contact them to make them aware.

I'd love to know how you get in, I tried Firefox, Chrome, and MS-Edge browsers, I get the same thing on all of them.  If that's your definition of in, it's not all that useful.

legacykline

I'd actually consider donating if there was any usefulness to the site, but this limits my desire to spend money on it.

I was able to get into http://www.legacykline.com/apps/kl/catalog.html using Chrome just a few minutes after your post, and it appears to be displaying properly.  Chrome says the site is not secure - perhaps there's something in your settings that is limiting what you see.

FWIW, I also can't access it. I've tried four different browsers and I see the same exact thing as John. To those of you who can access the site, do you think you could post contact info for the webmaster? My day job is as a systems engineer for a certain fruit company and I'd be willing to chip in to help figuring out what's up. My guess is that it's certificate-related on the server side. I just need to know who to email.

Website says that owner goes by the handle mojomark on OGR.  His profile contains an email address and website (go there to find it - not going to post here).  His profile says he joined in 2005, but last visit was April 2017, so who knows if he's active or not.

I am using a new iPad that I have had only a few weeks.  I doubt that the Kline web site is cached on it.  I haven’t tried to access the Kline web site for a very long time.  I do see “Not Secure” in the URL area when I access the site.

Here is a screen shot taken just a few minutes ago.

Same info I posted here above back in above back in August.

Hi Folks,

I'm sorry some of you are having problems. I am not seeing the same issues with the K-Line site from my house. Although, I have had that behavior with one of my other sites hosted on the same platform.

I'll open another ticket with my hosting provider to see if they can provide some insight on the behavior.

(sorry for the absentee owner... all my train stuff is in storage so I've been out of the hobby for a few years.)

Great to see you post Mark.

I think it's some sort of Internet routing issue, I've seen this before.  The fact that by going through a proxy server I was able to access it normally tells me that there is a disconnect between parts of the Internet and your web hosting site.

I hope you get your stuff out of storage soon and are able to once again enjoy the model train hobby.

I'm beginning to think it might be Verizon that's the problem!

I don't think it's Verizon, we have Google and that isn't getting through either.

Comcast was not able to connect yesterday and also on and off for a while.  However, today I was able to connect to the site after @Former Member posted above.  Also, thank you @gunrunnerjohn for the proxy server link; I'll give it a try since at times comcast can be stubbornly fussy.

I have been unable to access the website as well.

I can ping www.legacykline.com.

I can access the site as www.legacykline.com and get a list of directories.

Can not get HTTP to load and can't find an HTML file.

Could not get any contact info from the site.

Does anyone have an e-mail point of contact?

If you look a few posts up from yours, the owner of the site has already posted to this thread.
