My work travels took me south this week and while I was cruising through Dayton OH I caught a glimpse of this cool building along the east side of 75. I spent an evening or two trying to figure out where it was using Google maps when I finally found its location in the old Carillon neighborhood of Dayton. Using Google Street View yielded some decent views of the south and east walls and Bing's Bird's Eye view gave me a better look at the rear (north) wall which is what I saw from the highway. Bing's views were taken in winter so there was less foliage cover. Thinking that I'd like to use this part of the building as the basis for the next factory flat project on my layout I decided to jump off 75 on the way home to get a better look:
I screen capped the Bing views:
What I like about this building is the fact that each side is different. Up to four different models could be made out of this. I plan on using the north and west views as the inspiration for the next flat I have to build. Modeling this as a standalone structure would probably make a building not much bigger than my old Bruce Bros. building.
