The Lackawanna and Wyoming Valley was a largely third rail interurban linking Scranton and Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. This line used thrid rail except for a short distance at the Wilkes Barre terminal.  Most rolling stock were heavyweight style coaches or combines. There also was a short single track branch near Scranton to an amusement park at Petersburg. Interurban operations ended in 1953.

The line would make a good layout with the loops at each end, small stations and the Lackawanna Railroad shops in the background at Scranton.

Parts of the line survive today as the Electric City Trolley Museum.

Cool video.   The third rail on the laurel line was fully exposed with no protection boards.  There were many safety complaints.  The lackawanna railroad bought the line in the 1950's but operated it as an independent road    The Delaware & lackawanna still runs freight on it.  There are some proposals to run commuter cars again to offset I81 traffic
