What was the rationale for pinning the legs to the floor?

With no lateral support for the legs any inadvertent kick could cause this leg to buckle.  The pinning at the floor resist the horizontal kick force but the beauty is that he is free to roam about under the table.  There is no lattice work of horizontal braces impeding access or the time it takes to construct all of it.  A creeper can be used once the sheathing is on to roam about the layout....from underneath.

If he ever decides to remove the layout years down the road then a grinder will make easy work to cut the all-thread pins down flush with the floor.

Minimum isle width is 36”. Laser was used to level table at time of construction. Planning on using 3/4” True Floor for table top then cover with 1/2” blue foam. The track will be on 3 levels. Two Mountains will be in corners with bridges connecting them. Thislayout was designed by one of our Forum Members, Obsidian. Highly recommend him if one needs help with layout design. He can convert your drawing to RR Track software. Very nice guy and very reasonable. This layout uses Atlas track and 22 Atlas switches.
