Layout design help

This quick minimal design uses O31 switches with O42 curves outside and O31 curves inside.

I am attempting to design a layout with 2 mainlines with connecting switches.  Can I mix O42 for the outside curves and O31 for the inside using O31 switches or do I need to use O31 curves for both?

Thank you for the quick response. Very, very helpful.   I am using RR-Track and regular Lionel tubular track.  What is you example using?

I used SCARM with Lionel tubular track too, but I also have RR-Track, so I can help with either.
