Two years ago several Real Trax switches developed dead 3rd rail segments. I became disgusted because there are 16 such switches on my layout, and some are extremely difficult to access. So I shut the layout down until now.

This is my new dilemma. Several of the 30+ powered Rail King engines on my layout have NiCad batteries. There is no way I am going to power up the layout until every 9V locomotive has a BCR or a rechargeable 9V Nimh battery.

While changing batteries, I came across some PS2 engines having two 2V NiCad batteries in a blue shrink wrap. I assume the 2V batteries need replacement also. Is this a correct assumption?
