A while back, here on the forum, I got valuable help repairing a K-Line low-profile remote switch.  I was generously mailed a new limit switch to try and it worked perfectly.

The person (apologies, don't recall who) said it was the same as used in Fasttrac switches.  The part number was given to me as

610-2045-351 and the person said it might be referred to as a 'cherry switch' on Lionel's site.

I went to the site and searched on both the part number and again on "cherry switch" and both came up empty.  I am in need, again, of more than one and would like to see if I could have a parts "place" maybe bring some to York for me to buy.  Or even just find a source where I don't have to buy 50!!!

But not getting a hit on the part number, and being told there are lots of types of limit switches in the electrical world, I don't know how else to go about it.

Does anyone know: is that part number correct?

thanks - walt

What John showed is the switch that I've been trying to describe.  And it looks like, based on the parts diagram that stan2004 kindly shared that the part number that someone told me is correct.

I have never heard it called 'cherry switch' except for the one person (screen name "Norton") who said is what it's called on the Lionel site.  Definitely NOT the one that Russell so kindly provided in an attempt to help.

THanks Moonman for finding my old thread.  It was nice to see that it was 'Wyatt' that was kind enough to send me one.

I completely forgot about the JB Weld tip provided by John but that's what happens when one only has a Christmas layout and doesn't see his stuff for 9 months.  This year because I set up an Easter layout for my grandkids I had a switch fail and it was only because of setting up an Easter layout that I even am thinking about my equipment.

Since I have something like 30 of these K-Line switches maybe I should buy 30 and get wait to use them!  If I knew that that JB Weld trick worked I'd buy some and give it a try but it seems risky to me.

thanks EVERYONE for helping me out with this!

Thanks for the comment John.  I can make it work (change to the correct color on both the switch side and the controller side) if I manually manipulate the "flap".  I suppose I should try it on one and see what happens.  Not much to lose since I"d be throwing out the "bad" one anyways.
