For the latest you need to view this Facebook recording of the inaugural episode of the “Ryan and Dave” show:

The 21” cars are one of the first things they discuss and unfortunately they are going to be split up between three containers only one of which is en route and probably will not be here in time for X-mas.

Now, that container may not be far off the target Lionel announced in various recent threads here but there was not good news for those of us waiting on the UP Excursion sets. The other two containers, the last of which which will include the UP Excursion and AFT cars, will arrive between Feb. and March. In fact the Excursion and AFT cars are still in production and won’t be ready to ship until late January/early February.

I should say maybe instead. Big delivery coming today

Hopefully in that delivery lies the 1st set of 21 inch passenger cars!

According to Charlie Ro's website, it appears the first three new 21" passenger sets are:  Amtrak, Southern Pacific, and NYC ESE.  Everything else is expected at a later time.  That's the safest way to put it, because I don't believe anything we're told anymore.

Funny.... I pulled out an invoice yesterday from over a year ago, when I purchased a Lionel Heisler from Charlie Ro.  On that same invoice it showed an ETA OF 12/16/2016 for the Lionel AFT cars.  Oh well.... now we're told they'll arrive Spring 2018?  What happened to 2017?    12 months here and gone... and stuff that was due to arrive over a year ago hasn't made it to US shores yet.

Like others here have said, it's best to take a "believe it when I see it" attitude -- especially when a SKU hasn't even been manufactured yet!

I´m pretty certain that the 1st round of cars will arrive very soon, not in the spring, that´s for the later rounds.

Well, yes.... I think that's what we said earlier, right?  The first group should hit stores shortly after the New Year now.  Charlie Ro is showing 1/10/2018 as an arrival date at their store.  Beyond that, it's anybody's guess -- including Lionel Stateside -- as to when the next batch will arrive.  That was my point.  Nobody here really knows anything for certain until containers arrive in North Carolina.  After all, this is the same group that told us ALL 21" passenger sets would ship in the same container to make optimal use of the container.  And that line of thinking struck me as a bit odd to say the least.  Just think about... NOBODY manufactures that much stuff at once.

So now we hear delivery of these 21" sets is spread out across 6 months... which doesn't surprise me one bit.  That's actually what I suspected would happen all along... which is a good thing for those who pre-ordered multiple sets.  Unfortunately, somebody always draws the short straw.  And that currently appears to be the folks who ordered either the UP Excursion Set or the American Freedom Train.  You just can't help but wonder about the irony in that, since the UP Excursion Set was one of the first 21" sets in this group -- "previewed" almost 2 catalog cycles ago.

I have the UP's on order. I can wait(no choice). It will give me an opportunity to see if Lionel actually lowered the frames closer to the truck to close up the large gap. This was one of the selling points for Me. I really hope Lionel didn't screw these up. Have to give them the benefit of the doubt. If I see the early roadnames with large gaps, I will cancel in a heartbeat. Looking to sell my MTH premier UP's passenger cars but thought I better wait. After all this time waiting for these, I hope Lionel gets these right.

I hope they didn't change the Flag baggage car in anyway.

I like that the baggage car is due to be 18" in length.  Same with most of the American Freedom Train, since the display cars are based on baggage cars.  I have no further interest in 21" passenger cars.  Perhaps a theatre car or two (because of the unique functionality)... but that's it for me.  I just prefer the way the 18" cars look on my layout.

18" is the proper scale for baggage cars. For a 72' baggage car, that works out to exactly 18" for exact scale.
